Fitness hasnt always been a part of my life. I didnt start exercising on a regular basis until I had my son. I gained 40 lbs when I was pregnant with him. For someone who is 5'2", that's a lot. When my son was five months old, I joined Bally Total Fitness. Depressed from the weight gain, I exercised every single day until I lost all the weight. The gym became my second home. It was hard in the beginning but as I started to see results, I became really motivated. With all my hard work, it only took 4-5 months to lose the 40 lbs I had gained and was more fit than ever. Only a year after getting into fitness, I decided to become a fitness professional.
I've been a fitness instructor and a personal trainer since 2002. I totally fell in love with the job, and has now turned into a career. A couple of years into it, I realized I just didnt know enough about the industry, trends, anatomy and physiology. So I became certified with more than one organization and with various different formats. In the fall of 2005, I went back to school to pursue my undergrad in a field that I truly love. In May 2008, I completed my BA in Sport and Wellness Management. Currently I teach pretty much any land format including dance, kickbox, yoga, pilates, sculpting, cycling, step. I am in the process of completing pilates with the aparatus (reformer, cadillac, chair, trapeze) which will take almost a year to complete.
I also have the following certifications:
Group Excercise Instructor with AFAA, NETA, YMCA
Personal Trainer with NETA, YMCA
Pilates with NETA, Balanced Body University
Cycle with Reebok
Kickbox with IFTA
Turbokick
Hip Hop Hustle
Zumba
